Walk in as you are. Walk out with a GP-led plan
Eligibility is based on your BMI, your medical history, and a full clinical assessment with a GP. As a rough guideline, treatment is usually considered if your BMI is 30 or over — or 27 and over with a weight-related condition like type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure. Your GP will walk you through it at your appointment and confirm what's right for you.
Yes. Weight loss medication isn't suitable for everyone, and there are some conditions where we won't be able to prescribe it. These include: 1) Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy in the next 12 months; 2) A personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2 syndrome; 3) A history of pancreatitis; 4) Type 1 diabetes; 5) An active or currently treated eating disorder. Other conditions and medications may also affect whether treatment is right for you — your GP will go through your full history at your appointment. If medication isn't suitable, they'll talk you through alternative options.
You'll still have a full GP consultation with tailored lifestyle and clinical advice. If bloods were included, you'll get your results and a clear next step — whether that's follow-up, referral, or simply reassurance.
Prescription weight loss medication is licensed and well-studied, but like any medication it carries risks. That's exactly why we insist on a GP-led assessment, in-person first consultation, and ongoing reviews — to make sure it's working safely for you.
Most side effects are gastrointestinal — nausea, reflux, constipation, or diarrhoea — and usually settle within the first few weeks. Your GP will explain what to expect and how to manage them.
It varies from person to person. Treatment duration depends on your goals, how you respond to the medication, and your GP's clinical assessment — and is typically ongoing for several months, with regular check-ins along the way and an in-depth review at 6 months. Your GP will adjust, pause, or continue treatment based on what's right for you.
If treatment is prescribed, you'll be shown exactly how to take it at home — with clear, step-by-step guidance at your first appointment. Depending on what's prescribed, that's either a hands-on demo during your consultation, or a video tutorial and official support materials sent through afterwards. We'll cover everything you need to know about using, storing, and managing your treatment day-to-day. And we're on hand between appointments if anything isn't clear.
Repeat prescriptions are handled through your patient portal — no face-to-face or video consultation needed unless it's clinically required or you'd prefer one. You'll get an automated reminder when a repeat is due, and before each one you'll submit a quick update covering your current weight, any side effects, your pregnancy status, any recent hospitalisation or upcoming surgery, other weight-loss medication, and any significant health changes. A GP then reviews it and decides whether to continue, adjust, reduce, or pause treatment. If anything needs a closer look, your GP will let you know.
Medication cost isn't included in your appointment. Your consultation fee covers the GP's time, any in-clinic tests, and your clinical follow-up. Medication is paid for separately through a pharmacy, and we price-match to the cheapest online pharmacy providers — so you get GP-led, in-clinic care without paying a premium on the treatment itself.
